You need to get a webcam up for the tank, that way I dont have to rent couch space from you and I get to burn countless hours watching it. Win Win in my view.

Could you tell me what the coral on the left side of photo #3 is...I have one struggling to stay alive in my nano but don't have a clue what it is.

Thanks.

Mark, I believe the coral is a Montipora Samerensis. Slightly different growth pattern than a digi. The mother colony is more of a rusty orange...it is front and center in my tank...not because it is a show piece, but because I have a dumbass 13" wide center brace....so I put most of my montis in the middle portion of the tank....and they dont seem to mind:mrgreen:

Hairytank 05-26-2009 05:46 AM

Your Tank!!

Well it has to be said...I hate you....

Hey!....that was un-called for.... Thanks Aaron.....you should come by sometime....I got a gift for ya:biggrin:

RC got a couple small sps shipments this last week and I thought one in particular had potential. It looks to be a tri-color of some kind...not really sure as it is all kinds of brown right now. The colony was a two-for....it had a small frag of poccilopora on it as well that I will have to frag off. Not sure that anyone wants to see pics of it, in all its brownie splendor....I will probably post some shots of it soon just for reference purposes.

fishytime 05-28-2009 03:46 AM

I got motivated.... so here is the new stuff ...and a couple shots of one of my croceas...I can get a good clean shot of it now that Gargantuspawn is gone.

See...I knew it!....size does matter:surprise:also there is something intriguing about the thought of you having my "spawn":lol:

Thanks Mindy....guess there is lots of bored peeps like me out there:p

I decided to add an Aquacontroller Jr controller package with an additional HD4 powerbar to the tank. Ive got the controller, temp probe and HD4 but I have to wait for the other parts to come to complete the package. Actually its still sitting in my truck until I can sneak it into the haus...anybody wanna come and distract my g/f for a few??

Myka 06-01-2009 05:06 PM

Your biiiiig spawn. Rawr.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh! She will hear you.....Im serious man....its still in my truck....no one offered to cause a diversion.

I just experienced an exercise in frustration:frusty: a few days ago I was in the tank and caused another minor shift in the rock work...so tonight I decide I am gonna fix it before I get started on a water change.....Im such a bonehead...I forgot the "golden rule" of aquascaping.... if you move it, it will never be the same....its like, the first thing you learn when you start playing with live rock.... so, of course I couldnt for the life of me get the rock back to the way it was and spent 2 1/2 hours trying to come up with some thing I liked...never got the water change done...I will snap some pics when the corals aren't so P.O.ed with me:brick:

JDigital 06-02-2009 04:37 AM

ohhh quit being a chicken... get that thing hooked up!

Blom 06-02-2009 04:40 AM

First off I have to say how happy I am with the little naso...he/she is sooooooooo fat with algae and the tank is visibly cleaner. I never would have thought a fish that size would have such an impact. On the flip side I think he may be a stinker once he grows up some. He already doesnt show any fear of the two much lager tangs and even has a bit of "tude" about them.

Ok, so here is the reason for me switching salts. The tests from this morning were
sg .024
dkh 9 elos
Mg 1320 Sali
Ca 380 Sali
and I dosed
3 caps of Tailored aquatics dkh
3 caps of Tailored aquatics Mg
and 100ml of kent 2 part
Just to keep things where they are...I have dosed that amount everyday for four days:neutral: Something had to give. So the first and least expensive thing to change I figure is the salt. The slick new packaging is what sold me on the deltec salt...cool looking black bucket....oh ya and there was something else about the levels being good or something. So.....I tested it.

sg .024
dkh 5 not so impressed with that:sad:
Mg 1440
Ca 480
So I will be doing the first change on the tank tomorrow...I thought I could ease off on the testing but will now have to tweak things a little Im sure to get things figured out.....Im also sure an expensive calcium spewing gadget is in the near future. I love this hobby.

Going back in time a bit... Tested my Deltec salt...

SG - 1.026
Alk - 11.2
Ca - 420-430
Mag - 1140-1170

Hairytank 06-04-2009 03:48 AM

OK I will join in..

Just mixed a batch of Reefers Best..

Sg 1.026
CA 460
dkh 13
Mg...unfortunately my test kit is running low so holding off..
