www.chromalox.com/Literature/controlsel.pdf In conclusion, it is important that the heater, sensor and load be as close as possible. The sensor should always be between the heater and the load. |
Regarding ProfiLuxControl II 3.03:
Some clients reported probs with the function "manual override" under "socket outlet function". We revised the source code - result is a new version 3.0.3.1, ready for download now. If someone has problems with socket outlet functions i recommend to update the program. |
3.03.01
Where do I go to get the download?
|
Firmeware download
Normally you find the download here http://www.ghl-kl.de/Produkte/Aquari.../download.html , but you may have to look again tomorrow as Matthias needs some sleep from time to time.

"Matthias Sleeping again ,what's going on here"
Sorry - it won't happen again! I think i can publish the WLAN-instructions today. |
Matthias is just back from a contest he lost, see here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/6689999.stm

Hello, anyone have any news as to when the WLAN instructions will be posted?
Many thanks... |
Hiya
ASAP I understand matthias is still working on them. We have WLAN up and running in the UK on a test bed using the new software with no issues, looks like the release is going to be a real breeze! Regards Michael |
EVG-AP2 version 4.xx
Matthias Gross
i have read the spec sheet for this and would like to know if it was possible to connect two ballasts to one relay control set leaving one side unsed. i am aiming to utilize one port to control two ballasts from the profilux , and then add a led bar on the second port, using a splitter YL2. Himat |
You can connect several ballasts to one EVG-AP output. The only limitation is the inrush current of all connected ballasts (in sum). It must not exceed 100A, with good ballasts you should not have a problem with up to 5 ballasts on one relay. The inrush current of a ballast is usually given in the datasheet.
But why do you want to use a splitter and only one relay? Do you use L3L4 for other devices? If not there is no need for this configuration. And: The new (W)LAN-tutorial - german version - is finally ready. Today we translate it, in the evening we will publish the english version. I'll post later again when it can be downloaded. |
thank you
Matthias Gross i have used one relay for one ballast ,i didn 't know that my lights where configured so one tube from each side come on with one ballast, works better than i thought. i know need to find out how long i need to burn the tubes before dimming these are Giesemann Infiniti range 60cm. i have set 100 hrs from the manual of the profilux. thanks himat |
100 hours are ok for burning in
And finally: The WLAN/LAN-tutorial can be dowloaded here: http://www.ghl-kl.de/Produkte/Aquari...AN_new_eng.pdf Please excuse this translation to english - in a next step we will get it "debugged". But it was important to publish this doc ASAP and i think it can be understood. |

I still confuse with how to set up.
How do set set the IP address? where do I get the IP address from?or just set any number? how come this thing so complicated? Matthias, is there a customer service or phone number I can call to get help for setting up? Thank you Lam |
Please give me details about your complete home network.
|
Wlan
I have no idea about home network, what I have and used now is the computer hook up to the DSL router.
I follow the instruction to set up the ProfiLux Plus II controller to 2.2 and then I got loss. Please tell me what I need and how to set this thing up. I thought these thing should be plug and play. Thanks Lam |
I wonder how it was possible to hook up the PC to the router without doing any settings or whaving any knowledge about the network. Is the WLAN security deactivated as standard? This is not recommended.
If this is the case it is very simple to get the connection running. The only thing you must know: what are the IP-addresses in your network? I'll send you now a PM with my phone-number, please call me. |
Its been a while
Well it has been about 3 months or so since I have been on this forum I had some computer problems and then just a pure lack of time. Good to see the profilux thread is still alive and well good to see so many firmware updates and that is where I have a question I am still running the firmware that came with my unit Can I upgraed strait to 3.03.1 or do I have to go through the other versions first? ( I hope not ) Also the english site goes strait to 3.02 I beleve it is. Any reason for this or has the site just not been updated yet
Thanks Doug |
Hi Doug,
it is not necessary to go through older versions -> update straight |
Thanks Matthias
Bet you cant guess what I am doing tommorow thanks again |
Wlan
Did anyone have success with the WLAN connection?
I am still struguling with it. Thanks for any info. Lam |
Hey all,
After the version upgrade, is it possible to daisy chain the old powerbar from the digital one ? |
Wlan
Lam, please write some details what did you do so far.
Did you set it up the frist time using serial or USB to assing IP Adressen and details to your WLAN card? |
Wlan
I follow the instrution from Matthias, ans I got to 2.2 and connect the controller with the RS232 and then try to get to the system, and did not see any system show on the left.
That is all I went so far. If you have a better way to set it up I really appreciated. my first question is, what IP address should I set to the controller? is the local PC IP? or the router IP? my PC is connect to the DSL box (router) I wish this could be easier, I think if this controller should be plug and play and if it does, alot of customer would like to buy it. I have alot of people asking me about the controller and I can even tell them anything about it yet, all I said to them is I did not set it up yet. I been waiting too long for the set up to be complete. Thanks Lam |
Wlan
Lam, lets do it step by step.
You first need to properly set up your RS232 connection. And this is described in 10.4 in the profilux manual. So with this you should be able to set all parameters (COM-Port on your PC where the RS232 cable is connected and the 9600 baud rate) of the RS232, and then connect to your Profilux. Can you confirme that you have at least the RS232 connection running? If you have a working connection you will see the menue on the left side and have then accsess to all functions of the Profilux. Second you need to understand the IP network system and for this it is best that you again read the chapter 1.2 of the WLAN instruction. The IP of the WLAN card must be in the range of your network, but can not be the PC or the Router adresse. Can you please write down the IP of your PC and the one of your Router? So then you have to choose one who is free for your WLAN card. Write it down for us so we can see what your are doing. Do not choose a IP adress who is occupied by other network equipment eg. printer etc. |

Hi Big Blue,
I got the connection with RS232 and can access to the controller no problem. The thing i really want to do is get it connect via WLAN because my computer is in my room second floor and the controller is on the first floor. I don't know anything about the network is the network have to be set up? All I know is the DSL form verizon send me a router with the antena and that hook up to 4 computer. Right now it hook up to 3 computer. The computer that I want the controller connecto is the main PC from my bed room. Please let me know if the controller need the network in order to work and should I call the internet provider to set it up or what do I need to set it up? Thanks for get back to me. Lam |
marc i dont think you can daisy the old to the new. my understanding is that if you use the 4 outlet one it uses its own port on the controller and the only 6 outlet bars can be daisy together.
|
powerbars:
if you mean digital powerbars with "new ones" and conventional powerbars with "old ones": they can't be daisy-chained, niloc is right WLAN: If "system" can't be seen the version of ProfiLuxControl or ProfiLux firmware is below 3.03 -> First make update of both as it is described in the tutorial to 3.03 IP-address: a NEW IP-address which has not be assigned to the other devices must be chosen. This can be any addres you want, it must fit to the address range of your home network. Please refer to the tutorial. If you don't know anything about your network then do this: - Start "cmd.exe" on your computer - enter "ipconfig" - what do you read now? -> these are your LAN-settings |
Hello Matthias,
I have followed all the instructions and am still not able to connect wireless. I cannot access the Lantronix WLAN-security settings page on iexplorer because I get a "cannot connect to this address" error, however, I have tried even with an unsecured network connection to connect wireless to the Profilux and I cannot connect! My router is a Linksys WRT300N wireless N broadband router and for the Profilux ip I use 192.168.1.105 . I am ready to start pulling my hair out from frustration of trying different combinations of settings with no success of a wireless connection! This does not seem to be a very user-friendly device. It would be much simpler if (for wireless operation) the Profilux was already factory set with all the necessary conditions met and have self-configuration automatically performed initially via the RS232 connection as in true plug and play fashion. Please Help!  |
Wlan
I don't think it works
It is Fustrating and it should be plug and play Lam |
Wlan
Hi Matthias,
I update the software to 3.03 and now I see the system and set the Ip to it whatch is 192.168.1.46 after that I save and move on to # 3 WLAN security settings. Start the IE and type 192.168.1.46 and enter the IE said page not found. This thing is really sucks. I am patience enought of this and thought this controller is the best one out there. But I think I was wrong spending twice the money and got more head ache Please get it works before put them on the market. Lam |
Hi
in my opinion some statements here regarding WLAN are not fair and correct. Facts are: - we have several 100 of these devices sold, most of them are working without any problem - the user MUST have basic knowledge about his network at home - otherwise he will not be able to install it - the devices are tested 100% before shipping, any of them has been configured here for a test connection - i offered to call me directly to give personal assistence for the setup: Please call me! I got no call till now! (Please keep in mind our local time) - i asked some concrete questions to give you detailled support - still no answer! (e.g. post #511) How could we do factory settings for any customer? At least the SSID and security settings are different from case to case - so this is not possible. Did you alter these settings for you network? Next time we extend the software again to be able to deal with automatic IP-addresses, then we have only 2 (SSID + security) settings instead of 3 which must be altered. I'll be at Macna in september and teach some of the retailers regarding LAN/WLAN and general operation of the ProfiLux. That means in future our customers will obtain more qualified support from the retailers. And if there are still questions till september: Maybe you can visit Proline's booth, i'll give you personal advice there. Again: Please call me. |
I got a hint from another customer:
His firewall caused trouble. After disabling the firewall for ports 80 and 10001 he got his WLAN running. If you don't know how to disable the firewall for special ports just disable the firewall completely (only for test!!! after test enable it again!!!) Maybe this information is helpful. |
Matthias, I would call you if I could, however, I have a VOIP telephone connection and our service provider only allows for out-going North American phone calls.

2 quick questions...
Matthias are there any plans to have a full tank LED system along the lines of something like the solaris fixture that would be made by GHL and controllable with the profilux? Secondly, can anyone confirm or deny if the "western" cables that we use to link the power bars together are telephone cables? The reason i ask is I'd love to hook my upstairs tank up to the controller as well and if it's telephone cable than I can just run 50 feet of cable upstairs and have it controlling that tank as well! So far I've had my controller a month and absolutely love it! |
Aquacan you got a PM:mrgreen:
|
Slick Fork, these are our standard telephone cables and jacks. I am using extensions on mine as well.
