I mention to my eleven year old son that he should be getting me his Christmas list soon, he says okay and leaves the room.....15 minutes later I get an email.... from him..... titled.... 'Christmas list' !!! with his mom cc'ed.....Sent from some type of Ipod device he has.

When I was eleven I circled in the Sears Wish Book what I wanted ripped the page out and handed it to my mom..How times have changed.

I still do that but my wife points out i'm a married man

gregzz4 12-04-2012 09:30 PM

Kenny

Just got off the phone with my Transmission shop owner bud
Good ol' Chrysler is still making disposable trannys, so even if your case wasn't cracked, you'd be in the same boat
The prices you mentioned aren't so far out of whack
Try to get a warranty of some kind on the used unit and cross your fingers it was well taken care of with low miles

Chrysler trannys do last a long time, they're just not rebuildable, so don't fret the used one

Nano 12-04-2012 11:49 PM

Yeah this one has 75k for warranty still the jeep its off of was written off from being t-boned lol. Chrysler said its fine, just to let them know if there's issues before the warranty is up and its a free fix.

You're on a roll today! My wife has said the same thing to me, I once told her there is difference between a married man and a happily married man. I had to duck real fast and return home with some flowers otherwise I'd be sleeping in the truck.

Proteus 12-05-2012 02:10 AM

So sick of my job. The last six months I've been trying to do the work of two trucks. I run a vac truck. The money is great but 300 hours a month with only 4 days off is killing me. I get **** on buy consultants and I'm told to take it. I am told to sleep in my truck rather than them find me some relief. Told I can't take holidays for the sixth year in a row. The company was great before but now it's big and the boss grows ignorant. I just want to quit and leave it all behind.

Time to talk to the bank about a business loan and buy your own vac truck. They are always in high demand. You may not get any more time off but it will at least be much more gratifying.

I hear that, I used to work for a company that built vac trucks... Nothing but glorified a-holes. I asked for time off when my baby was born (just 2 days nothing major) I got in deep s*** when I came back. Went to HR about it to find out what the big problem was being there for the birth of my first born, she called the boss in and I was threatened with lay off if I was so much as late again.. this is after 8 months of being 15 minutes early and leaving 15-30 minutes late each day, and I never missed a day except the ones I asked for.. family definitely isn't priority for them.

IMO if your in a position to do so, look for something a little more flexible in that sense.

That's another issue. I was to be 30% ownership of this truck when I got it new. My boss and I had a agreement and when I was to pay my share he cut me out and said maybe in five years😡

A combo unit right now is $450,000. And with the industry having core standards its to much money to write a saftey program. I was going to buy one this year and my boss told me he wouldn't contract me. The thing is that when myself and friend approached this company they had no vac truck work and we brought our customers with us. If I can manage to stay local. He knows the work will leave with me. And I won't go back up north. I've applied for a local operators job with oil company and have had more than my share of job offers but I don't want to jump around. I worked up north for 10 years and want to stay local now. I think really all I need is a holiday. I have one planned for march but that's not soon enough.

Rant over😉

I have a job offer on the plate now. A company has askd me 5 times already and again today. I would only work 14 days a month. Which is awsome but I'd loose 25,000 a year. Moneys not everything and the kids would like me home more

I hear you. I was up in Fort Mac for 5 years making really good money then along came the family and I basically took a temporary $80,000 year hit to start all over with something new. I'm making pretty good money now and I'm home every night with the wife and kids and the extra money up north just doesn't buy that type of thing.

Yeah I spent most my time in northern bc. Drilling rigs love the work love the money. Same story family came and I came home. I'm home daily but lots of time it's well after kids are in bed. Dec slows down for me so there a little more time for the family

i've decided i am going home and going snowboarding! lol

Coralgurl 12-06-2012 05:45 AM

Hope you had fun snowboarding!!

:laluot_32: really wish I could do this to someone.....:twised: that is all.

NIVLEM09 12-06-2012 05:52 AM

If only i had known earlier that to be a physician would be extremely difficult.i would have never gone to Med school:cry: my brother lied to me:cry:

gregzz4 12-06-2012 06:24 AM

WHY did you all keep this hobby a secret from me for so many years ?

Had I known I could have so much fun scrubbing coralline from the glass; cleaning skimmers; removing vermatids, derbesia, bryopsis, cladophoropsis, bubble algae, aiptasia, mojano and other pests; dealing with equipment malfunctions, failures and upgrades; plus all the unexpected costs of keeping a reef ... I would have started one when I was younger
If only someone had told me years ago about this hobby, I would have certainly been certifiable long before now :silly::twised:

Glad to have all you crazy peeps to talk to

Flash 12-06-2012 05:40 PM

snowboarding was awesome!!! nice and soft!!! today is thursday, which means it's almost friday, which means.... Friday night snowboarding!!! lol!

To the person whom I interrupted his "relations" at the motel I was working at. In my defence I was told the room was empty and by no means meant to interrupt your rush hour romance. I'm sure it must have been hard for you since you repeated 4 times that I had really bad timing. I hope my interruption didnt hinder your happy hour too much

Poor kiddos sick. So stuffed up her nose is running faster then my return pump.... Off to Walmart I go, luckily its open 24/7 right now... I've been up since 2:30am but mammas sick so its up to dadda tonight to keep this little one comfy, poor bugger can't even nurse cause she can't breathe through her nose.. I just wish I could make her feel better... :( poor little Ava..

Not much of a hint unless its a family member of yours.

Nano 12-10-2012 01:10 AM

Haha no. But I've seen him at the bars around town in my earlier days. I missed the ending though. Dang.

That's kinda sad actually. Hope it turned out ok!

Proteus 12-10-2012 01:42 AM

There's probably enough of us here that need intervention. Lol

Couple months ago a person the wife grew up with was on the show. It's a shame to see people in such a low state of life

The Grizz 12-10-2012 01:47 AM

My wife says I need an intervention for buying tanks :surprise:

Nano 12-10-2012 01:51 AM

It's definitely sad, they guy isn't exactly unknown in town, nor are his kids they play hockey in the peewee program so they'be been in the paper before. It's unfortunate what drugs/alcohol can do to people.

Hope all turns out well for him. It's weird when you see someone from your own backyard on shows like that.

Even a chick on the bachelor was from wetaskiwin mind you she didn't survive the first cut, but its still weird to see, like what are the odds? :P
