yeah its pretty exciting, more than likely, it will still be a 6footer, but a bit deeper wide and more shallow and also a new sump would be involved as well.

fishytime 05-05-2010 12:41 AM

and a killer looking stand!

ALBERTA REEF 05-05-2010 06:33 AM

Dougs in on this. Now I am really getting interested on what this tank looks like or have I all read seen it?

lobsterboy 05-06-2010 01:14 AM

This is a tank in progress, no one has seen it.

lobsterboy 05-07-2010 04:25 AM

well its offical, there is a new tank in the works.

here are the dimensions

72x24x20

abit longer than Sunny X ' s build

Its going to be alot different than my previous tank as this one is being built to my liking. Its not awhole lot bigger than my current tank but aesthetically this tank has me stoked.

Ooh.. New tank!! Exciting! I really do need to come see your existing tank before it is gone. Man, is Calgary like the only major city that doesn't do tank tours???

By the way, awesome tank dimensions! :-D

lastlight 05-07-2010 04:47 AM

Dude you need more than 24 front-to-back COME ON. You grow colonies after-all.

yeah, i am stoked, and the tank break down has already started, the large orange birdnest is gone as well the sunset milli, its still packed, saturday a large part of things will be gone.

I am going to try n work things out so that i can have the coral and tank gone, before the new one arrives, just keeping the liverock in rubbermaids.

I have gone over it in my head many times now, and it should work out.

probably take a day off work to make sure things go well.

I wanted to go 30 deep but there was no way that it would fit in the same spot, so i went with keifer

lobsterboy 05-10-2010 08:38 PM

I had received a piece of sample glass to see the polishinig, here are the pics.

Any ideas on what lighting system you will be running on the new tank John? Can't wait to see the tank built, that's going to be one amazing looking SPS tank considering the last one.

How do you plan on keeping your levels constant? Any reactors or dosers in the mix yet?

I am looking at the line of ATI fixtures, the new light will be for sure T5;s.

for the start up of the build and following willl be dosed the same ol way i have been doin. Seachem CA in the morning, Seachem KH at night.

A doser might be a good idea, but not sure yet. As its beenig planned out, but I will not know the total aspect of things until the tank and stand get here.

I hope I can live up to all these expections. One thing the new tank will be, less is more.

If you're ever down south drop me a line. Compared to yours or Kien's tanks though mine are not worth seeing, so I personally wouldn't beat a huge path to my door. :p

lobsterboy 05-11-2010 09:04 PM

will do Tony, i heard your gorgs are awesome.

i picked up some rod for the new rock work, i always said the next tank will not be a leaning tower of SPS.

I also did a huge move today to bring some of the colonies, (hahaha) to a friends tank. We got it all in, and i took pics along the way.

kien 05-14-2010 03:54 AM

Nice! So did you go with the solid rods or the hollow ones?

Dez 05-14-2010 05:02 AM

Wow, some of those colonies are HUGE! Isn't it crazy what fits inside the tank with everything intertwined together? I don't envy you, I would hate to be moving corals around. Looking forward to your new tank build!

going to start to get the equipment together here soon enough.

i have some ideas, one thing is a new light fixture, which has been ordered.

lobsterboy 05-16-2010 02:59 AM

yeah its pretty sweet, I will have to get a rubbermaid to get the break in time, so i can just bloop it in the sump.

When I was bringing it in to my place, a guy in the street said

" hey man nice bong "

needless to say I didnt try to explain to him what a protein skimmer is.

The Codfather 05-16-2010 03:19 AM

Wait till you fire that pump up! Then you'll truly be convinced that a BK in not to be messed with.
