Well if I could help you out I would, but last I checked these things need water. And I am a ways away from having the "right stuff". But I could guarantee that the would be no fragging. What about at tank at the store for the time being?

Well I suppose the store is an option, but I wouldnt have control of who ended up with it. Its really important to me that it goes to someone that A) knows what they are doing, and B) someone who values the size of the thing. Ive also noticed that my red blastos havnt fully expanded since the addition of the vortech, so that may be another one that may have to be re-homed. Im gonna try moving it around to see if I can find a better place for it. The vortech is great and I really like it but its creating all kinds of havoc with my overflows. The stream is too powerful to leave going when I feed the tank, but when I put it in feed mode my overflows go all crazy and I have to re-adjust them. Oh the problems we face:mrgreen:

Blom 05-05-2009 04:29 PM

I was looking at those Vortecs at RC the other day, pretty insane. Id like to see the flow it create, has to be fairly large seeing the under toe/current they say it creates.

PM me if you wanna come check it out....Im not to far from RC.

JDigital 05-05-2009 11:43 PM

Maybe you should just keep the frogspawn and donate the Vortech to a good cause... like someones bigger tank..

I'll have to swing by sometime and have a peak at this thing..

I know.... I wasted the afternoon hanging around RC (again....), then did the trim on my tank stand, and then didn't want to leave the house..

fishytime 05-06-2009 02:11 AM

Water change day, so that means clean glass and happy corals.

Nice birdnest! I have a recent fascination with the different birdnests lately... When I worked at J&L there was a shipment that came in where the birdnests were bright pink, and the polyps were NEON purple/blue. They were RAD. Sold in like 2 hours.

The 2nd is Acropora greenius maximus fuzzius.....not sure about that one....the 3rd is montipora surina something or another...and the 2nd to last is acropora millipora "Christmas Sunset" variety

Well.....Im giving up the frogspawn:cry:....man, I never thought that I would become sooooooo attached to a coral, but this was one of the hardest decisions Ive had to make with the tank. Im hopeful that buddy keeps his word and doesnt frag the piece up. So here are a round of pics that will be the last shots of the tank avec gargantuspawn.

+1... Freaking amazing.

JDigital 05-16-2009 02:04 AM

Photo tip: Shorten your exposure from what you had, and those pics would represent the tank but more accurately.. (could also make the f/stop smaller instead... ie: f/3.5 to f/7.1)

Tank looks good though... gonna be sad to see that frogspawn go though.

Carmen 05-16-2009 02:09 AM

Looks awesome! Really looks like some amazing growth! You're sure those blastos are happy eh?? Kidding. So sad to see the frogspawn going! You'll have to fill it with an equally impressive piece!!!!! Ooo that sorta sounds fun! And the hunt is on....

lastlight 05-16-2009 03:04 AM

Things are really starting to fill in bigtime...looks beautiful!

How on earth could you part with that beast? Grow a pair of manFrags and upgrade =)

Thanks everybody! So its gone....buddy came last night and took it home....There is now a huge void in the tank that I spent the better part of the evening staring at:neutral:....Being that gargantuspawn was such a focal point of the tank Im thinking that I need to do something really cool with the rock work where he used to live. Im gonna pick through the LR at work today to see if I can find a couple pieces to make what I have in mind, come to life. That coral had some serious weight to it...like a couple pounds, easy. I did a quick and rough count of the heads while it was un-happy and there was easily 40-50. I miss it already:sad: Last time I checked, my manfrags were still there. Believe me....I would love to upgrade but there are too many reasons why I cant....money, space and the fact that we rent means that whatever tank I have needs to be somewhat portable, so anything bigger than this would be a major undertaking to move. Excuses, excuses....I know....I will take a few new fts pics once I am happy with how the reno goes. Gonna sound geeky but...live long and prosper Gargantuspawn.

Hopefully that little frag of yellow birdsnest will become a new focal point of the tank. I took your advice btw for this next round of pics...whatcha think?

So after picking through the lr at the store(and there is probably 400-500#s there) I finally held up a piece and went...."this might work".... got it home and.... it fit like a glove:smokin:. I knew I wanted to fill the area in a bit, so that I could glue in some recent frag additions. The thing is, I have a K2 powerhead stashed behind the rock work, pointing towards the front right corner of the tank that I wanted to keep. Also there is a zoanthid colony growing on the main pile of rock, right where it would be best to add rock. So simply pililng on a couple more chunks was something I wanted to avoid. So heres what the new scape looks like. The new piece "bridges" from the main pile to the overhang. This way I avoided the zoas, didnt have to move the powerhead and made another pass through for the fish......I think Im happy with it.:p
