awesome input guys, that saved me an overflow,
|
well, i am on the ro water as of tonight, i just made up a batch of water.
http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3095-1.jpg its not done yet, as you can see. Big thanks to Kevin at Red Coral for the RODI unit, I was on a break from work and he got everything together for me, even though he was busy, he replaced the filters on it, so all i had to do when i got home was hook it up to the tap. Customer service is really top notch. I tested the tap water again, and it was 170. The water from the RO unit was 000 Sweet. http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3093-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3094-1.jpg |
congrats on going RO!
|
With RO (and less TDS and other junk) you may want to rethink/tone back your Zeo lest you completely strip the water bare or all nutrients.

Welcome to da Club!

Why not?

The key here is to keep things as stable as possible. Reducing supplementation of carbon sources or media beds will have a larger negative impact on a stable system than simply switching to water that should have been used to begin with. Let's put it this way; don't fix what isn't broken, and this isn't broken :D |

And, I'm quite active. I don't even own an arm chair. |

Hence you have two options, start adding a lot more zeo additives to replace those that are not being introduced any longer, or tone back a bit on the zeo as there is less nutrient load to be removed. |
I also must agree with Albert. I have been researching on zeo a little for my new build and from what I know about zeo, it cleans out the water column and then gives the corals what they need through facilitation of other supplemental products. It takes what they don't need and gives back what they do need. Corals get enough nutrients from the zeo dosing that they no longer need to work as hard producing food during the day and use polyp extention to capture any other additional nutrients from the water column. Because they save so much energy through zeo nutrients, polyp extention increases noticeably.
Never the less, I am sure different tanks may have different results and effects from changing things up suddenly. I am sure John will know if his tank is affected adversely or not when he monitors his corals. He can always make slight adjustments if the needs arise. Anyways... good purchase John! I will be looking into one of those in the next few months. Let me know if you see a noticeable difference in your tank with that RO unit. Can't wait til you come by again to pick up your pocci, and check out the new system! Post some pics when the changes pop up in your corals! |
Tanks looking awesome Jon!
Adding onto the whole switching to RO water and being worried about the zeo. I highly doubt he would be changing all of his tanks water at once. so lets say going with a 5-10% water change it will take quite a while for the tank to actually be 100% ro water |
thanks everyone for there comments, I have used the ro water as top up water, for the past two nights. I have a water change next week, so i guess well seen them.

Very nice! As always.
|
thanks Lance,
I am starting to like the use of white balance for taking pictures more and more, as its giving hte true color of the coral, and leaves the blue tint behind. |
Finely! Topless pic's.

hey everyone, i had the day off today, which was awesome, Scott dropped off a wicked pocci colony to me, and then i met up with 24 storm and his new ride, a sick ace corvette, we hit up the local shops here, seen Kevin, Doug, and carmen and Brad and his wife at Red Coral, and picked up a few things for the teatro tank. (which will hopefully be updated today sometime) then oceans, big als, and golds.
I did have plans to do a major reno aquascape on my tank, but in the end, time was the major player, i just dont have that much right now, so this wil have to wait. A few colonies were traded off, and things got moved around a touch to try and increase flow, which I was successful in doing. all levels are where they should, as i was having a hard time with MG a few weeks ago. also had the time to take some pics of my own tank as well as the teatro tank. ok picture time. http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3661-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3657-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3656-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3653-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3642.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3648-1.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3649.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3636.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3634.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3643.jpg |
so the obession for stylos contiunes, I just recieved my order from Oceanic Corals, 3 of them being Denis;s purpel stylo the other being a pink birdnest are my favs, and it was awesome as usual. Paul and the guys are excellent to work with.
Thanks to Titus and Canreef for the surprise I got when placing my order pic time, i will be keeping these guys on the rack for now until they can get a bit of growth on them, the bird nest, i stuck it in with the other pink and orange. http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3729.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...0/IMG_3730.jpg http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/r...IMG_3731-1.jpg |
looks awesome great work

New Beginning ?
hey everyone,, so I might be upgrading my tank. A smoking deal came up and it might be too good to pass on.
The tank wouldnt be the same as I have right now, not even close. I do know if this does happen, it will be lite by T5;s and fueled by Zeo  and stocked with a few of my current SPS, I will not be transferring all of them over to the maybe new system. well thats it for now, I will keep you all posted. |
that is great.
|
Sweet. So instead of a 6 footer your are going to have a 10 footer along the whole wall. All kidding around if you need help moving things let me know.
