Hello Matthias, could you please inform as to how close the dosing pumps are to being available.

Many thanks...

Matthias Gross 05-10-2007 04:54 AM

@Ginzo: I'll try to make a summary this weekend

@Aqua Can: We started production. I think we are able to ship in 3 weeks. Pricing will be ready in some days, Jason (Proline) will get the prices ASAP

Matthias Gross 05-12-2007 02:27 PM

Dosing pump

The dosing pump units are in production, the prices are calculated.

Here a photo:
http://www.ghl-kl.de/Produkte/Aquari...it_374x171.jpg

- We will offer units with 1 to 4 pumps, a later upgrade (when you obtained an unit with less than 4 pumps) is possible, the pumps will be offered separately.
- The devices have microcontrollers and are bus-capable (like the digital powerbars) and have extra power supply
- with keys on the front panel the pumps can be swithced manually

The next firmware release for ProfiLux will include new functions/modes for dosing. Further details coming soon.

Hello Matthias,

I was wondering if there was any chance that within the Profilux software, that we could actually have a "notes" field under the "socket outlet functions". It would be very nice to be able to label within the software what "socket 5, 10, etc" are.

Also - is there any ability to see current status of the plug(on or off)? Like an overview page of which are active at any given time. A list similar to the "socket outlet functions" but in the second column, include "on or off".

If this actually exists, I apologize - I just set this up last night and I am going through the software and I am not seeing it.

Would it at all be possible to provide the API to pull the "measured data" out of the controller? It shouldn't be too hard to use something like perl to probe the controller for that data and to have it keep appending to a file, therefore it would be easier to keep "high" resolution data. Not to mention it would be nice to not have to "save" the data manually - very easy to autogenerate graphs and such ;-)

Sweet, that sounds good - whats the ETA for 3.03?

A side note... you wouldn't happen to know what a "normal" redox reading for freshwater is, would you?

Eric

support@proline 05-16-2007 07:44 PM

Ok Guys
This is all exciting stuff ,we are really excited about the dosing pumps & also the firmware Upgrade .
Eric ,thank you for your Input ,as always Matthias is a step ahead of all of us:mrgreen:  .
On the side note:
I just received a call from the Dimmable T5 ballasts Manufacuterer,I should have some news very soon.I will keep everyone posted ,I know this has been taking a bit longer than we thought ,but we wanted to make sure we get the best product & be able to offer it to you @ a reasonable price ,anyway seems like the search is almost over as soon as I get word I will keep everyone posted.

Temp units

In the Profilux software version 3.02, under the 'controlling' drop down, the 'temperature', 'measurement data', and 'sensor overview' temperatures all read in celcius. The temperature graphical display reads in celcius as well. I see no place to change the units that display within the program itself. I have farenheit selected, but it only applies to the profilux display.

Is there a way to get the temperature values within the program to read in °F? Thanks.

Connecting to Wireless Network

Hello,

I know this is a long standing issue but after reading the pdf and uploading new 3.02 software, I am still unable to connect wirelessly.
The pdf is very obtuse and circuitous. Do I have to create an Ip address on the unit itself and then try to connect? Anyway, I would like to get an idiot proof step by step, preferrable with screen prints, for Windows (XP and ? Vista), Profilux 3.02 software, and the Profilux (Plus) II unit. These are not inexpensive units and the instructions leave much to be desired. Adding a wireless printer or computer to my network is a no-brainer.

monitors-direct 05-20-2007 07:20 PM

Have you got the new step by step guide with screen shots I have been emailing out?

The same holds true for conductivity. If you change from mS to Salinity, the units stay at mS in the program.

Could I get you to send those to me? I've pm'd ya my email address...

Matthias Gross 05-21-2007 06:33 AM

Hi to all,

a lot of questions the last days.

- display
the display mode (temperature, salinity, whatever) effects only to the display of the ProfiLux. I will add this feature in one of the next releases of ProfiLuxControl
- wireless
since 3.02 (firmware ProfiLux and ProfiLuxControl) it is much easier to do the settings. But: Some basic wireless settings which depend on the used wireless router or access point still must be done in any case. The new ProfiLuxControl 3.03 (coming soon) has some more functions to support this.
I hope Michael's instructions helped?

monitors-direct 05-21-2007 10:49 AM

I have now sent the instructions to every one who has requested them either by direct email, pm or on the forum, if you have not received them please check your spam folder and then let me know and I will send again.

In the UK we will have a wireless system up and running in about 1 weeks so can help further with any set up issues. the ony issue we have found so far is what type of router you are using but we are working on this also.

We are offering FREE global support to all users at support@ghl-profilux.com this is support only we do not market or sell in the USA or Canada, please contact Proline for this service.

hope it all made sense

Regards
Michael

Marsh 05-21-2007 02:17 PM

I am now at work and will check my home email tonight. Nevertheless, are there instructions regarding use of a access point (AP) (wireless router)? The default setup is for Ad Hoc apparently. In addition are you aware of any problems with setting the system up on Vista?

Marsh 05-22-2007 02:00 PM

I very much appreciated the instructions but they did not seem to be too dissimular to what is available on the installation CD. I read the instructions last night but still could not get a wireless connection.

Is it true that connecting over a WLAN via a wireless router, access point, with DHCP with WAP will not be available until firmware V3.03? Even in the device emulation mode (in the Extras/Communication submenu) I did not see how I could instruct the device to accept DHCP addressing, enter SSID, enter WAP key.
Must all of this be done with DeviceInstaller? DeviceInstaller would not recognize my home wireless network even though it is broadcast in my neigborhood. Might have been easier had they used Windows or .NET infrastructure to discover wireless networks, etc

Matthias Gross 05-22-2007 04:29 PM

Hi Marsh,

i saw you also tried to obtain help in reefcentral. Because of illness i couldn't reply earlier.
From 3.02 on the configuration is completely different - and much easier.
Unfortunately i have not been able until now to update the tutorial - coming soon.
I think i should support you directly, on the phone. You'll get a PM with further details.
Until now we got every WLAN-card at any customer running!

Raul-7 05-23-2007 04:20 PM

Hi,

Will the doser be able to dose a set amounts of liquid? For example, if I want to dose exactly 10mL each day.

Will you ever have NO3 and PO4 probes in the future? I want to use it for a planted tank.

Thanks.

Matthias Gross 05-24-2007 06:08 AM

The new firmware 3.03 (coming allows the dosing in ml/day. Or you can program a timer clock in 1s resolution.
Probes: I can't promise, these probes are still too expensive for permanent measurement. The technical side is not the problem. ProfiLux is ready for probes of any kind.

Draven 05-24-2007 10:32 PM

I know that in order to run Two Tunzes on one port, you need a Y adapter. Is the Y adapter the same that would be needed for LED lighting? Course, I am not even positive if you can run the LED lighting on the Y adapter to begin with so that would be helpful too. I havent been able to find much info on any of the vendor sites about this.

niloc16 05-24-2007 11:48 PM

i'm pretty sure it is the same y adapter. when doing so, both led lighting plugged into that adapter will be controlled the same. meaning that they will both dim the same amount at the same time, they will not be able to be controlled individually.

big blue 05-25-2007 04:10 PM

Y-Adapter

The standard Y-Adapter doubles the input L1/L2 to two outputs of each L1/L2. So the channels will behave as parallel wired.

The cross over adapter has one input L1/L2, one output L1/L2 and one L2/L1. If it is not available you can rewiring yourself if you can solder and do not have two left hands.

There are some pictures of it in a german forum but I am not shure if you can understand it, but at least you will see the picture.

Thank you!

I also have another question, can I use the controller to completely automate my water changes once or twice a week? For example, I use two optical sensors (max and min). Then can I use the controller to open a solenoid valve and at the same time a water pump which will drain the tank (this will be at a set time, like 9 am). Then it shuts both of them off when it reaches my desired low point (min sensor). Then it turns on the return-line solenoid valve to fill up to max level sensor. Can it do this automatically?

And do you know when you will have the plug-in dimmer module so I don't have to throw away my ballasts and buy dimmer ballasts?

niloc16 05-25-2007 06:20 PM

yes raul7, the controller will do that. at any set time you would like it to.

Draven 05-26-2007 06:53 AM

Big Blue,

I checked out the site, sadly bablefish's translation was a bit poor. I could understand some of it, but then some just didnt make any sense to me at all. So the YL2-2,5 adapter is which Y adapter? This was talked about in the post but thats where some of the poor translation came into play. I am curious if this is the crossover adapter or if this is just the one that replicates the port giving you two of the same.

Matthias Gross 05-26-2007 08:18 AM

I'll try to clarify it:
we have the splitters YL2-1 and YL2-2.5, one is 1m long, the other is 2.5m
They have the same function: Just double the ports, no crossover
The splitters are suitable for lighting and pump control
If you want to connect two controllable pumps on one port (eg L1L2) you need: 1 splitter, 1 cable ProfiLux<->Tunze1 (the pump connected over this cable will react on L1) and 1 cable Profilux<->Tunze2 (reacts on L2)

monitors_direct 05-26-2007 08:25 PM

Thanks for the explanation matthias we have the same confusions in the UK.

Draven 05-27-2007 05:13 AM

That explains it perfectly. Thank you. Do you guys sell a Y crossover adapter or is this something that we would have to buy locally at one of our electronic stores? This would be for stuff other than the Tunze's such as two LED lights, or a light and the fans, etc.

Thanks. But is there a risk the optical sensor can fail (for example, piece of debris covers it or algae) and then overflow the tank?

AquaCan 05-31-2007 03:10 PM

Hello Matthias, I am not able to connect via wireless connection, only via cable. I have read all the instructions everyone has provided and I am really confused about what I am doing! Will it be any easier to get a wireless connection with version 3.03 or maybe you have some very clear and easy step by step instructions that are not so confusing to follow.

Many thanks...

monitors-direct 05-31-2007 06:51 PM

I know step by step instructions are on the way.

But in 10 days I will be in canada and my first Job (GHL wise) will be to set up wireless on our test/demo unit.

Ok so why am i telling you this? Well I know as much about networks as i do about brain surgery, so my method is to learn the hard way, write everything down and then publish how i did it on here for you guys, and I hope from that I may unravel some of the answers. BUT I do know Matthias is also working very hard on making the whole WLAN set up more straightforward also.

WISH ME LUCK!

AquaCan 05-31-2007 07:41 PM

Good Luck!! I wish you better success than I have had!

Lam'sreef 06-01-2007 01:43 AM

Hi all,

I also just bought the ProfiLux Plus II and trying to set up the WLAN connection to my PC and no success.

How do I start? and where can I look for my IP address?
This controller seem to be very difficulty to set up compare tothe others.

Thanks for any help.

Lam

monitors-direct 06-01-2007 09:03 AM

Until version 3.3 is launched I think it requires an elelment of good IT knowledge but the new releases due very soon will make it so much easier.

One thing to note and I think this statement is very accurate and also shows a level of care from the manufacturers. matthias has not yet failed in getting one single client connected as far as i am aware. If you want help in getting up and running please either contact me at support@ghl-profilux.com or contact Matthias directly, to be honest at present Matthias will be your best bet, he wil baby step you through it im sure

Matthias Gross 06-01-2007 02:39 PM

Hi

i hoped that version 3.02 could make it easy to establish the WLAN-connection.
I am writing the version 3.03 (ProfiLuxControl & firmware) with new extensions regarding LAN/WLAN at the moment. Please give me some more days for that job.
3.03 is coming soon.
