Der_Iron_Chef 10-26-2007 07:11 AM

Wow. Nice to see some LPS in here! That Elegance is incredible.

SeaHorse_Fanatic 10-26-2007 07:57 AM

Thanks. I did the SPS thing for a while (my wife's idea), but I'm really an LPS guy. That gorgeous elegance looks way better live & I bought it from J&L (thanks Renee)

Marc.

Jason McK 10-26-2007 02:00 PM

Hey Marc I thought the first one was commonly called a Bubblegum?
or maybe I'm not seeing the colour right. (I'm on my crappy laptop)

J

SuperFudge 10-26-2007 02:04 PM

Looks similar Jason, but no, not the same piece.

Heres my bubble gum,

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...alshots067.jpg

The hulk is down low, and hasnt acheived its full color yet...but the purple and green actually start to really "run together" like a hybrid coral on the hulk.

If you look at the most central branch on the hulk pic, on the axial coralite you can see the begginnings of this happening.

Marc.

Jason McK 10-26-2007 02:14 PM

Oh ya sweet.
I dont know then what I have but it's kinda inbetween both of them.

J

OK sorry back to pictures.

SuperFudge 10-26-2007 02:17 PM

I dropped a square on it to show you, all tips are starting to do it now, but only really noticeable yet on top down views.

Somebody else may be able to chime in here, my knowledge of coral taxonomy is nonexistant.

The best I can tell you is "acropora species"

Acropora granulosa seems right if the google image search is accurate.

Here's an acro that you don't see everyday. I think it is A.divaricata & has some potential. Check out the growth form of the coralites:smile:

Snappy 11-03-2007 07:31 PM

Todays favorite:wink: Picked this up as a frag last winter and it's now starting to smarten up.

Reefer Rob 11-25-2007 12:49 AM

Marc, is that the Pocillopora that was at Hidden Reef a month or so ago? If so you may notice a small piece was missing from it. I... uh... wouldn't know anything about that.
