Matthias Gross 04-19-2007 06:11 AM

Ginzo,

it is allready possible to send an email in the event of an alarm.
I wrote instructions for that, till now only in German. I will let you know when the English instructions are available. Coming soon.

Ginzo 04-19-2007 01:35 PM

ok great Matthias !

Please let us know how to send an email in the case of an alarm.

I haven't seen any instruction in the manual or any thing relating to an email in the controller Software.

Regards,
Chris

Here's how to setup the float switch:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...50x478_151.jpg

Here's how I setup mine in my overflow, to prevent an overflow :)
If the water get's to high, it will activate the float switch and turn off the return pump for a period of 10 seconds.

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...cture031-1.jpg

Matthias, you should include the first picture in the Profilux Manual, I was surprised it wasn't included.

Ginzo 04-19-2007 11:31 PM

Hi Matthias,

I've been trying to figure out how I could do the following, but I haven't had any success so far, maybe you can tell me if it's possible (since I think in the current state it isn't)

Here's what I want to do:

1) When float switch (1 sensor) is activated (maximum level attained), I want it to stop my pump (water1) and activate the alarm (buzzer, it would be great if it could also send me an email).
2) When float switch (1 sensor) is not activated (normal level of water), I want my pump running (water1) permanently.

Currently, I have only been able to program the following via the PC software:

1) Set to min/max operation mode. Water 1 is permanently on. When max is attained, water 1 is permanently off. I have no way of knowing it's has been shutoff (no email, no alarm or buzzer). The only way I know it's off, is if I check to see the pump is running or not.

This operation mode will prevent me from having an overflow, but it would be great if I could achieve the scenario I described earlier.

Let me know what can be done !

Thanks,
Chris

Ginzo 04-20-2007 02:36 PM

One other thing I've noticied, sorry if I'm giving my 0.02$ here, but I figure it would be good for everyone:

On the PC software, when you want to go in Maintenance mode, the controls are a little iffy ! I'm a software engineer, so I know how hard it is to get a good interface design  But, what I mean by a little iffy, is that when you go in maintenance mode, you have to first set the mode of your switchs (on or off) before checking the Maintenance mode active checkbox. Once you checked it, there's no turning back. If you forgot to activate or desactivate a switch, your screwed, you need to uncheck the Maintenance check box, and set your switches correctly and then recheck the maintenace check box.

My problem with this, is if for example I go in maintenance mode while all my lights are on and I want to simply desactivate my T5s and not the Metal Halides, but I forget to set one of the T5s on/off switch, I need to uncheck the maintenance box (and all my lights come back on..that's annoying) and then recheck it.

What would be great, is if once the Maintenance mode is checked, we can activate or desactivate (on/off) the outlets at will.

That's my 0.02$ for today !

By just my 2 cents ginzo means his opinion & input:mrgreen:
Go easy with the lingo on the german guy here people:biggrin:
Ginzo good feedback .

niloc16 04-21-2007 12:40 AM

i have a question for you matthias, i have the view II for the controller as well and it is mounted on the end of my canopy on the outside for easy access. at night the glow from this unit is extremely bright, is it possible to have the controller shut off the view II at night or a pre-programmed time?

Matthias Gross 04-21-2007 06:41 AM

@Jason: I think i know the meaning...I hope so

@Ginzo: A lot of input for me. I will check the recommendations. For level control: some extensions in the firmware are allready planned.

@niloc: Not possible, sorry.

Jukka 04-23-2007 06:28 PM

Would it be possible to have 0,01 second adjustment for current/ short wave?
0,1 s is little coarse for Tunze wavebox...

Matthias Gross 04-24-2007 05:59 AM

Jukka,

the time which has to be entered in 0.1s steps in the ProfiLux is the wave duration ( = pulse + pause). That means that the pulse duration is adjustable in 0.05s steps in truth.
Until now we got only positive feedback from our customers regarding wave-box control. They have all been able to adjust the time adequate to their tank, and they had tanks with different lengths (appr. 60cm ... 300cm).
->The resolution will not be changed in future (except a customer complains that he is not able to adjust his wavebox control satisfying)

Jukka 04-24-2007 07:28 AM

OK, i think my wave setting is fine at 2.0s. The reason why i asked this is because 1.9 and 2.1 are both way of, so there could be little optimization left, maybe  . I am happy with the control though.

AMP 04-28-2007 02:03 AM

Good day all,

I am writing from the states, Not to switch channels on your subject, But i am in my lighting phase of my new rig, And I am curious as to which dimmable ballasts are compatible for the Profilux? More or lesss i keep getting a round about answer that most of the dimmable balasts that are 0-10V capable are fine, but I am also being told the Dimming module is 5 Wire.

Is there a schematic that can be found?

Thanks for any input on this,

Tony
http://s85.photobucket.com/albums/k4...090%20Project/

Matthias Gross 04-28-2007 06:43 AM

Hi Tony,

you can use any dimmable ballast with 1-10V interface, this is a standard interface. ProfiLux outputs this 1-10V-signal and an on/off-signal. This signal can be used to shut off the ballast completely (disconnect from mains) at 0% brightness.
The wiring and shut-off is easier with our product "EVG-AP", the description can be found here:
http://www.ghl-kl.de/Produkte/Aquari...G-AP2_V400.pdf
Kind regards

AMP 04-28-2007 01:49 PM

Mathias,

Thank you so much for that info, I realize Profilux is working with a vendor specifically to creat a Plug and play ballast to conect directly to the Profilux.

As much as I would like to wait for this to happen, it is holding up my project.

I assume from the manual, L1/L2 will go directly to the Module to control the ballast? and I would need a second Module for L3/L4 Do the pigtails IE: connectors come with the module? I have 4T5's I am going to control through the Thermal monitoring, The Halides will only come on for 3 hrs so that is no worry for me.

Great to hear from the Dev on this, better to talk to with you then second parties. Thank you so much for the response. Sorry if my English seems a tad confusing, I have not spoke or read German in many years, so I am pretty slow on reading the PDF :)

Matthias Gross 04-28-2007 02:16 PM

Hi

the PDF is German & English (2nd page).
One modul can control (dimm and shut off) 2 ballasts (or groups of them) separately. Cable to Profilux is shipped with. If you want to dimm 4 groups independently you need 2 EVG-AP, the second one is connected to L3L4.

AMP 04-28-2007 02:26 PM

Thank you Matthias That answered alot, can't wait to get this up and running :)

I believe this is the one that is needed for the 0-10v module.

Or can I utilize this directly from the controller?

Matthias Gross 04-29-2007 09:07 AM

The links don't work.

But doesn't matter - ANY dimmable ballast with 1-10V-interface can be connected.

Matthias Gross 04-29-2007 12:06 PM

Hi to all,

i have a question, complete different topic:
Did anyone think about using a ProfiLux to control a pool?
We can control and measure pH/Temp./..., the control of pumps (filter & current) is possible.
I tried this the last days on my own (small) pool. The pH is measured, pump is switched, even the controlled use of a solar panel with magnet valves is possible (heating of the pool water).

What is your opinion? I am looking forward to your feedback.

AMP 04-30-2007 08:14 PM

Michael, Mathias,

Great news from both of you, Seing My German is rustier than a nail, don't figure :) Anyways would either of you know, I have a Spec on a Ballast I believe will handle the Profilux Dimming directly from the unit I believe without the need for a 0-10V Module. I would like some verification prior to me purchasing these for my Rig, My T'5s arrived today from Europe, and I am somewhat anxious to get te Profilux up and running.

Thanks a Million for any help that you all can provide.

monitors-direct 04-30-2007 08:35 PM

It is hard to answer this without knowing what you have purchased and what the spec is. My knowledge of the dimming side of profiLux is still growing but the following is correct.

The dimming modules LF-ABOX and LBF-AP act as an interface between the light unit dimmable ballasts and the profilux, not only that using the LF-ABOX as the interface this acts as a complete shut off to the lights when the 1-10V line drops to a certain level.

So my answer would be without seeing any specs is that no you will need one of these interfaces. for the sake of a few $$$ i would seriously concider getting the correct spec ballasts from GHL and the interface, I think it will save you more in the long run.

GHL do manufacture high end T5 light bars that already dimmable also, you will have to talk to proline for prices though.

Hope I have got your question correct? if you can supply a bit more info i can help further
Regards
Michael

AMP 04-30-2007 09:31 PM

I have looked at the Ballasts that are on the site, Unfortunately, I am in the states on a 120/60Hz, I think we are one of the few countries still on 120/60Hz LOL. the ballasts shown are 220V.

Anyway, If you Pm me with a Fax number I would be able to provide you with the specs on the ballast.

http://www.sylvania.com/ProductCatal...hSpecGuide.htm
This link also has a Ballast for dimming T5Ho Dali and 0-10V. Maybe that could shed some light :) on the matter.

I have just recieved my Geisman bulbs and T5 reflectors today, and am trying to press forward on this project.

GHL sent me literature on the Dimmable Driver Blanh for 0-10V ballasts, the Dali ballasts have that technology built in, this si what leads to my questions on the ballast types for 120V.

Thanks again for the time to read this.

Matthias Gross 05-01-2007 07:14 AM

Hi

DALI-ballasts can't be used with ProfiLux.
As far as i know Proline was searching for dimmable 120V-ballasts.
@Jason: Some news?

monitors-direct 05-01-2007 08:48 AM

argh yes sorry, you require 120V.

I have just spent an age sifting through USA web sites and have come up with an array of 120V dimmable non Dali ballasts. i am just waiting for Matthias to confirm which ones are Ok and i will then let you know.

Michael

Thanks you al so much for working with me on this.

monitors-direct 05-01-2007 11:57 AM

Ok first things first

http://www.sylvania.com/content/disp...m&id=003678766

thats the type of ballast you require.

I am waiting to hear if the EVG-AP is 120V also, it is national holiday in Germany so Matthias naturally is not available

I will let you know asap.

Regards
Michael

monitors-direct 05-01-2007 02:59 PM

EVG-AP are Ok for 120V so you are good to go, no long wait. You require this to interface between the ballasts and the profiLux, this also switches mains.

GHL can also obtain the correct Sylvania ballasts.

Michael

Keep me in mind:biggrin: I can get the Helios Quicktronics 0-10V here in PA, But they are special order ballasts, Don't figure , Anyway, if you can Pm Me or shoot me an email with specs and probable pricing , that would be great.

monitors-direct 05-02-2007 12:52 PM

GHL can also supply you via theyre North American retailers the correct ballasts now, might be best option to get the right ones.

Just a thought
