That's a good point. So it's not even tempered? That seems kinda silly to me. I'm tempted to get a thin piece of plywood veneer and replace it. I know I couldn't personally match the stain so I'd make it a totally different color.

I like how your new setup maintained a very modern look seeing as your old tank also had that modern vibe to it as well. Instead of swapping a plywood veneer for the glass pane, you should see if you can find some nice tile to inlay in the space. There are tons of stone mosiacs or small individual tiles that would closely match the stand. Great macro shots btw!
