Finally, some activity!

Posted 12-08-2011 at 12:09 AM by strickrick
My drab and boring tank is now bursting with life. I like to think that the school of Blue streak cardinals was the key, the dispar anthias hang out with them and all the other fish seem to swin in their proximity. I'm finally starting to feel like this long wait is worth it. Still missing a few key pieces but they'll show up shortly. Sorry about the colors in the photos - not sure how to get it less blue.

Stock list so far:
9x Blue Streak cardinals
7x Dispar Anthias...

Day four - more rock and water added

Posted 06-29-2011 at 02:48 PM by strickrick

2nd pic shows two snails - one on the left and one on the right making tracks in the sand. Also seen a few small bristleworms in the sand through the glass, excuse me, acrylic. It'll take...

Day three - slowly getting there.

Posted 06-28-2011 at 04:32 PM by strickrick
We are on a well in our new house so in fear of draining it (also slowly filling a 2000 gal pond) it'll be done over a few days.

Day 2 - Filled to nearly 300 gal, mixed salt, install a few powerheads and filters, added heaters to get temp. up, added enough sand to just cover the bottom, and mixed in some chemicals.

Day 3 - Added some more mixed water, added some live sand with a few critters, added 200 lbs of dry rock, and gave the front a once over with my new Tiger...
