So after much research and many drinks to calm my nerves I decided on something bigger than 30g, but something that will not involve moving walls or reinforcing floors and all that jazz since my house is less than 2 years old. I found a great deal on kijiji for a used set up from a guy in lethbridge. 55gal with UV filter, powerheads, tank with stand, heater and used bulbs (apparently the light fixture was a friends). Cleared out some space in hubby office and moved the tank it.
After a beer or two, couldnt help but sit and stare at it... great got my tank..NOW WHAT?! let the real fun begin!
