U.S. stock futures pointed to a higher start Wednesday after Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Donald Kohn said the central bank can be "nimble" and can't hold the economy hostage to teach speculators lessons. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average (US:INDU) gained 110 points to 13,065. Those for the S&P 500 (US:SPX) rose 15.4 points to 1,441.80 and Nasdaq 100 futures surged 33 points to 2,065.50. Federal Reserve monetary policy must be nimble, pragmatic and flexible given uncertainties over how the renewed turmoil in financial markets will effect lending to consumers and businesses, Kohn said.
