Picture 29 of 30 from Album Large Aquarium Build
2. I don't have any photos of the stand construction, but you can kind of see it here. All re-enforced 4x4. The dimensions of the aquarium are 10' long, 3' wide, and 4' tall on a 2' stand. I wanted to build a FRESHWATER SYSTEM and it was designed as such. The glass is tempered, but I forget the thickness. It was heavy, delivered through the basement window with friends who 'believed'! The filtration system is on the left behind the door. I placed a large pump underneath, as well as a modified 220v hot-tub heater to maintain a constand temperature. Aboive the aquarium was eventually tiled and vented into the houses furnace system to draw off excess moisture, and act as a humidifier for the house. Fluorescent and pot-lighting was placed above for the construction phase. I had 4 holes drilled out in the back and two on either end for water flow, and plumbed with 1.5 inch pvc pipe
